For many years, we have had a department dedicated to obtaining justice for those who have suffered wrongs and ill–treatment at the hands of the state. We are experts in bringing actions against the police and other state bodies such as the Prison Service, Home Office, Ministry of Justice and Immigration authorities. This work includes
- Police misconduct including assaults and unlawful detention
- Immigration detention
- Complaints to the Independent Police Complaints Commission
- Judicial Review
- Discrimination on the basis of race, gender, disability or sexual orientation.
- Inquests and deaths in custody
- Breaches of the Human Rights Act
- Data protection
We understand that being mistreated by the state can be a traumatic experience, and will fight to obtain redress for individuals in whatever form that may be required. This may be compensation, exemplary and aggravated damages, an apology, disciplinary action or a declaration of wrongdoing. We are committed to protecting civil liberties and addressing the right balance of power between the state and individuals.
We can act under legal aid for those who are eligible, or a “no win no fee” Conditional Fee Agreement where appropriate.
