In recent times, Government has set out to criminalise the middle classes when they err as part of its law enforcement strategy, so creating White Collar Crime – “a crime committed by a person of respectability and high social status in the course of his occupation”.

The most serious investigations and prosecutions are often conducted by the Serious Fraud Office or Financial Services Authority, which were specifically created to promote the White Collar Crime industry, and given draconian powers.

Typically, cases are complex and document heavy, although the sometimes hundreds of thousands of “pages” of evidence may be electronic. An investigation may take years to unravel, and Saunders Law is uniquely equipped to assist clients during this.

It is critical that clients are represented by solicitors with the necessary resources and expertise. As a member of the Specialist Fraud Panel and the Very High Costs Case panel, Saunders Law has the resources demanded by very large cases. As an example we acted successfully for the finance director of Wickes plc in a ten month trial; the SFO case involved 55gb of electronic disclosure.

Saunders Law has been involved in some of the highest profile cases of recent years. This year we secured the first ever acquittal of an insider dealing charge brought by the FSA against City lawyer Andrew Rimmington

Heading the Saunders Law team are James Saunders and Stephen Gilchrist, two of London's best known lawyers in this sector.
