We undertake a wide range of commercial property transactions, and negotiate and draft commercial agreements. Ancillary to core property work we deal with Planning; Construction & Technology Court; Landlord & Tenant issues - negotiation and litigation; leasehold enfranchisement; Lands Tribunal and valuation work; Rent Reviews; Party Wall disputes. The property department specialises in entrepreneurial property schemes and associated work. It is highly experienced in inward investment in hotels, leisure and business centres, and high value residential property; in such transactions we advise on offshore investment vehicles, and network with other lawyers from our “best friends” global network. We also advise on outward investment. Half a million UK citizens a year take an interest in overseas property and need professional assistance to realise the opportunities of good value property overseas, and avoid the risks of developer fraud and defective planning; where such risks have crystallised as they have recently in Spain, we will litigate for a remedy.

As well as property entrepreneurs, we deal with the portfolios of property institutions including Housing Associations. We will handle bulk lines of standard transactions with great efficiency by fully utilising IT, yet ensuring a good level of client communications and access to key data. Commercial agreements form the backbone of business and it is vital that they are comprehensive, clear and sound; business ventures may unravel into litigation, insolvency or fraud unless their legal underpinning is secure, and unforeseen tax problems can arise from unwise agreements. We settle commercial agreements ranging from the relatively straightforward to high value complex multi-national projects contracts, and on larger ventures often attend key business meetings with clients to help shape the outcome.
