Matthew Purcell Contributes to Watchdog Investigation

Matthew Purcell, Partner at Saunders Law, has appeared on the BBC's Watchdog programme in connection with its recent investigation into technology company Apple.

The consumer affairs programme has been investigating complaints by Apple customers that the company is failing to live up to its promise to replace the batteries of recent generations of iPhones at a reduced price.  Apple had made this commitment in response to criticism received over its admission that it had deliberately been slowing down iPhones to make the batteries last longer.

However, some customers who have tried to take advantage of this offer have been unexpectedly hit by substantial bills to repair other faults on their phones - faults that Apple maintains must be fixed before the batteries can be replaced. In some cases these repairs were found to be unnecessary.

"I think consumers are getting annoyed because at a time when Apple should be rebuilding trust, it seems like they're putting barriers in the way of people getting their phones repaired," commented Matthew Purcell.
