Remembrance Day – 11th November 2023
As we approach Remembrance Day on the 11th November, it is with heart filled gratitude and remembrance of the brave souls who served and sacrificed themselves in the Armed Forces community from Britain and the Commonwealth.
This year marks 70 years, since fighting in the Korean War that came to an end. The 27th of July is the anniversary of ‘the forgotten War;’ a war that was overshadowed by the end of the Second World War and the following Cold War. As the sacrifice of the allied Armed Forces was extremely high, honouring the legacy of these fallen soldiers is of the upmost importance this year.
This special year also marks the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the Empire Windrush at Tilbury Docks, Essex; a symbol of the Caribbean settlers who honourably helped to rebuild Britain in the years following the Second World War.
Saunders Law are supporting this weekend by posts to honour their memory and be grateful for the peace we enjoy because of their sacrifice, and our commitment to upholding the values they defended with their lives. Wear a red poppy! Poppies are worn as a show of support for the Armed Forces community. The bright red poppies flourished within all the chaos and destruction of the battlefield; reflecting the resilience of our Armed Forces throughout history. While it is not compulsory to wear one, it is greatly appreciated by those within the Armed Forces community.
Be apart of the two-minute silence at 11:11 am; held as a sign of respect for all those that have died during the war.
Attend the Cenotaph, in London, where thousands of servicemen and women march past a memorial called the Cenotaph
Visit the local memorial services. On the Sunday 12thNovember, services are held in churches around the country.
Lest we forget.
