Leona is a solicitor in our Public Inquiries Team, working primarily on the Grenfell Tower Inquiry and the Infected Blood Inquiry.
She is passionate about social justice and representing vulnerable individuals who have suffered serious injustice due to the actions of the state.
Leona graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Law with Chinese Law and subsequently completed a masters in Criminal Justice Policy at LSE, where she passed with Distinction.
Prior to joining Saunders Law, Leona completed her training whilst working on the Grenfell Tower Inquiry and a wide range of actions against public authorities. She primarily acted on matters against the police or prison service to advise clients on claims such as false imprisonment, assault and negligence.
Discrimination. Represented a vulnerable client with complex mental health issues and autism against the police for failing to acknowledge his needs in custody.
Data Protection. Represented a prisoner placed at serious risk by the disclosure of an unredacted security report stating she had passed information to staff.
Assault by police. Represented a vulnerable individual with autism who was Tasered twice in the back and head whilst running from police officers due to suspected racial profiling.
Grenfell Tower Inquiry. Represented a high-profile core participant to prevent him being misrepresented by the Inquiry and media.
