Steve Garratt is an accomplished Solicitor and Higher Rights advocate noted for strategic thinking and his ability to identify case winning arguments.
Since qualifying in 2003, Steve has successfully defended in a vast number of criminal cases including major frauds, perverting the course of justice, murder, drugs, sexual offences, and appeals.
Most recently, Steve has acted on behalf of a number of defendants facing allegations arising from highly publicised ENCRO device operations, concerning international police forces and major criminals acting under the false belief it was safe to communicate with each other.
Resulting allegations included multi-kilo, Class A drug supply, gangland killings and double murder.
Steve has also recently acted for the alleged accountant for a London crime family, said to involve a global conspiracy to supply over 8500 kilos of cannabis.
In addition to his busy traditional and heavyweight crime practice, Steve Garratt is acting on behalf of a leading manufacturing company, defending criminal allegations instigated by Natural Resources Wales. This is a complex case involving questions regarding the definitions of waste and by-products and the necessity for waste exemption in circumstances where there is no risk to human health or the environment.
Steve continues to have ongoing involvement in a number of other serious, complex, diverse and sensitive cases including on behalf of a former Member of Parliament, and a large scale pension pot fraud allegation involving a number of blue chip company directors.
Alongside traditional heavyweight crime, Steve also regularly advises clients accused of financial irregularities and money laundering, defending against efforts by the state to confiscate alleged proceeds of crime and assisting clients to gain access to frozen assets.
